I haven’t always been a Jessie James Decker fan music wise, however, this song from her new album Southern Girl City Lights is an amazing one. Almost Over You is a country love song performed by Decker and fellow country musician, Randy Houser. Throughout dealing with my breakup, I have found myself listening to this song quite a bit. The combination of Decker and Houser’s voices make this song such a masterpiece, and paints colour with the lyrics. Whether or not your heart is broken, this is a song worth listening to.
Merry Christmas to you all that celebrate and if you don’t, then Happy Monday to you too!
I know that this is one day late, but I just wanted to acknowledge those of you that have been following and reading my blog since 2012! Its exciting to know that I have been using this blog for almost 6 years now and I am so excited to still have all of you reading along with me! I know that I don’t get around to blogging as much as I used to but 2018 is a year in which I hope to start again! Thanks for your continued support!
Every Holiday season, I like to let you know what I am listening to as a way to get into the spirit of things. This year, I have really gotten into this one song from Pentatonix. I am not a fan of acapella performances but this version of O Come All Ye Faithful was truly well done. If you need a pick me up song for the holiday season, then this is it for sure!
I was watching HBO’s show, Insecure, which features the channels first all black cast. The show is like the black millennials Sex and the City, which has made it interesting and provided perspective. On the Last episode of season two, Frank Ocean’s single, Biking, was played as the final events played out. It was the perfect song for the end of the season and it is also one of the best Frank Ocean songs I have heard in a long time (mind the fact that I did not listen to Blonde, his latest release). I have attached the track. Give it a listen and check out HBO Insecure while you’re at it.

On August 29, I had the experience of a lifetime. I got to go to my first large venue concert at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, ON and listen to one of my favourite musicians perform live. On one of his later stops on the Search for Everything tour, John Mayer gave a beautiful performance. What I enjoyed the most was that he focused mostly on his ability to play the guitar more than the vocals. I became more mesmerized with every guitar solo I heard him play. I got to hear some of my old favourites like Daughters, Waiting on a World to change and Gravity, but I was also exposed to a couple of new songs I enjoyed such as: Never on the day you leave, and Emoji of a Wave. I hope that you’ll give some of my videos a listen And I hope that whether you like him or not, John’s music can resonate with you in some way.
Today is one of my more sad days – it is the last day of my relationship. I have been listening to different songs and reflecting upon how I feel and I keep on playing songs from Zac Brown Band. At this difficult time, they are all resonating with me, well, the ones that I like are. Your Majesty is one of the bands newer songs and I am really enjoying its composition. The lyrics are truly beautiful and catchy and make you feel emotions. Its easy to tie this song to a person or event or spiritual sense just by following the lyrics. Anyways, I hope that this song brings a sense of calm and peace to whatever your day brings. Remember, that there is beauty in all things, even the saddest things at the most heartbreaking times.
Blue Ain’t Your Colour is a country song by artist Keith Urban. Its a slow song about a man who is looking at a girl who has lost her soul due to a boy who failed to treat her right. Its a beautiful song overall. I really enjoy listening to this song while travelling on the bus. Hope you enjoy it too!
