HUMBLE.

I was obsessed with m.A.A.d City when it was released but I have not done much listening to Kendrick Lamar since then. His new album DAMN. was released this month and all of my friends were encouraging me to give it a listen. I was definitely not disappointed. HUMBLE. is my favourite song off of the album. I really enjoy listening to Trap music and this song has those trap elements coupled with quality rapping. I just really like listening to this song while I am walking or on the subway.

Van Morrison Playlist

To be honest, I have been going through a lot lately and I don’t exactly know how I feel about some things. I was watching my favourite show, This Is Us, and this song came on and it was as if I found clarity and peace within myself, even if it was only for one minute. When I later googled it, it was called Into the Mystic by Van Morrison. I listened and listened to this song over and over again on repeat and I felt calmer each time I did and I felt at peace each time I did. Time stopped for a moment and everything was finally okay. Then I went searching for more of his music and actually stumbled upon a few that I was quite familiar with. I made this playlist of my top 6 Van Morrison songs to help me calm down when I am stressed and anxious. You can access them via Spotify below. Happy listening!

September Song

I originally stumbled upon this song on an acoustic listening Spotify playlist. I then went to research more about the artist, JP Cooper, and I found the more mainstream pop version of the song. This is probably one of the cutest songs I have ever heard, however it is not too lyrically complex which allows for a more easy listening experience. I have been listening to this song on repeat as it is just great period and the artists voice amplify the song. This is one of those songs that you will find yourself listening too repeatedly on a road trip.

Happy New Year!!

To all of my lovely blog followers, whom I have neglected by not writing as much this year, Happy New Year to you. I hope that this year brings you loads of blessings and happiness. Thankfully the year of realizing is over.

I am also going to get back to writing on this blog…for the remainder of the year and then I will retire it in the most wonderful way possible. I have maintained this blog throughout high school and university, and as I progress into my professional life, I don’t know if it will be feasible for me to keep on writing here. I may want to venture into different types of writing or I may simply just one day run out of time. As a final thank you to myself and a final goodbye to this blog, I will finish this in May 2017 and I will move on to other things.

I look forward to seeing your likes on my new blog posts!

1 NIGHT

1 NIGHT is a song by new rapper Lil Yachty.  For some odd reason, I love this song. It is actually quite bad, the voice is extremely monotone, the lyrics are not intelligent, but it is so catchy and funny that I cannot stop listening to it. The beat is also good so it doesn’t hurt to listen to it for that reason. If you want to laugh along to the lyrics and bad singing/rapping, then just watch the video which also doubles as a lyric video.

P.S. The music video is just as hilarious as his aesthetic!

Ain’t No Love In The Heart of the City

I have a thing for soul songs. Artists like Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Brook Benton and Otis Redding are a few of the artists I enjoy listening to when I’m in the mood to relax. I was watching my new summer favourite show, HBO’s Girls, and I heard this song at the end of one of the Season 5 episodes.

Ain’t No Love in the Heart of The City is a song by Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland and it appears to be is most well known song. I’m not sure what city this song is exactly referencing too but this song is mainly about a man mourning his love that has moved away from him, or out of the city. His is describing what his day to day life has been lacking without his love near and it has such a personal tone to it that you cant really help but to fall in love with the lyrics.

In relation to the show GIRLS, this song is used at the end of a scene where Hannah, one of the main characters, hitchhikes a ride from a stranger back into New York when she becomes stranded in the country. During this ride, the driver and Hannah begin to discuss their love lives and then express the way that they see New York. Hannah sees New York as being the perfect place for her creativity while the driver sees New York as a new start to his life. This song was the perfect fit to the end of this episode which is about two people losing/leaving the ones that they loved due to an unhealthy relationship. I quite enjoyed this episode and song and I hope that you enjoy it too.
