14 Relaxing Songs For A Relaxing Sunday

Thought Catalog

February Sundays have a wonderfully directionless tone to them. There’s no football for half the population to center the day around, and it’s not yet warm enough to embark on culturally relevant “I’m gonna make my co-workers jealous with how fun I am” outdoor activities.

If there were ever a time for sweatpants, coffee, and trend pieces about hilariously unaffordable real estate, it’d be right now. With that, here’s 14 songs to honor the Sunday malaise:

1. Sunday Morning – Maroon 5

Excruciatingly predictable, but nicely on-the-nose.

2. Fast Car – Tracy Chapman

Fast Car, in addition to being ranked one of the greatest songs of all-time, arguably captures Sunday escapism to a tee. You wanna go somewhere, anywhere, but not feel rushed. The tone and pacing of Fast Car suggests that starting over is something that’s done on one’s own terms and schedule.

3. The A Team…

Beyonce’s ‘Fifty Shades’ Remixes Are Here: Listen To The Sexy Songs

Hollywood Life

The full-length versions of Beyonce’s remixes for the ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ soundtrack have hit the internet and they’re so sexy. In fact, they should be rated NC-17. We just listened to them about five times each, and now, we feel like we need to take a cold shower. Listen to them here!

Alternate versions of Beyonce‘s “Crazy In Love” and “Haunted” have both been featured in trailers for Fifty Shades Of Grey. And up until now, we’ve only heard portions of the remixes. But thanks to an early release — the actual soundtrack won’t go on sale until Feb. 10 — we’ve got the full versions of the sexy tracks here!

Your Song (Ellie Goulding)

Last week I did something truly rare, I watched the television. And while watching television, I noticed a commercial that featured a cute and sentimental version of Elton John’s Your Song. Now it is not the best version of the song that I have ever heard and it barely does justice to John’s original, but Ellie Goulding brought something different to the song, something…cute?  I don’t really know how to explain it but I quite enjoy it.

Feds Watching

Feds Watching is a song by rapper 2Chainz featuring, and obviously written by Pharell. This song is interesting as it moves away from 2Chainz regular style of music and ventures more into not only Pharell’s style, but more of a reggae fusion. More than the hilariously misplaced lyrics, the beat is extremely catchy and something that I can find myself dancing too.

One thing I appreciated about this music video was its ability to lean more towards appreciating the beauty of the dark-skinned woman compared to objectifying her. The video features many beautiful and gorgeous black women who are dressed in a more model-esque fashion. They are not appealing to a mans gratification, like in other rap videos, but they are simply just enjoying themselves in the sun at a pool house in each others company…and 2 Chainz company of course. It was refreshing to see a different depiction for once.

Notable Mention: My favourite line in this entire song has to be, “I just got some pants made out of Snake Skin”, when in actuality (and the music video) he does not wear snake skin pants. Must say I was truly disappointed about this.
