I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS SONG! I don’t really listen to the radio, so I just recently heard this song of course. As soon as I heard it for the first time a few weeks ago, I knew that it was going to be a song that was stuck in my head for weeks. I listen to this song at least once a day everyday and it is my go to pick me up song. It cheers me right up! If you haven’t heard I Feel It Coming by The Weeknd & Daft Punk yet, I suggest you listen to it as soon as possible. You will definitely feel like getting up and dancing!
Okay, so here is another blog post about yet ANOTHER Sam Smith song. Why do I keep on doing this to you, one may ask? Well, a while back I went through a The Weeknd phase and then an Adele phase and I essentially think that this is what I like to do with my musical choices for a bit: I like to FIXATE. Anyways, back to the song review.
Leave Your Lover is a predominantly acoustic piece performed by Sam Smith. Now, due to careful googling, I have come to realize that this song is about a male lover that he was in love with that did not reciprocate thus leaving him for another man and breaking his heart. Heavy pill to swallow huh? I felt that way too. Anyways, this is truly a pretty song and it may or may not make you sad from a previous love, or you may or may not be able to relate but either way it is a good piece of music!
I like Ellie Goulding. I think she has a cute voice. Do I think that she’s a powerhouse? No. Do I think her music is good to listen to? yes. The first time I even heard of Goulding was when I heard her cover of The Weeknd’s High for This, which I actually quite enjoyed. Then I found out that she was dating Skrillex for a bit there and I fell in love with her because….well I kind of Love Skrillex.
Burn is actually a really cute and inspiring song as it talks about self expression and why one should be who we are. Sometimes we are more successful at being ourselves and letting our fire burn than we are at being something else. We all have a fire, we just have to find it within. I love this song because it talks about individually and collectively finding our “Spark”. It’s kind of like Katy Perry’s Firework…the message I mean. Also, its just a great song to dance to. I just love it. Its a replay ting.
P.S. This was my choice song for this year’s Word on the Street festival in Toronto. Every year at this annual festival, I quote one song that has relevance to the way my day went. This was my song this year; it was obviously a good day. I got TTC Buttons.
This song is a beautiful song about sex without the presence of love. I mean, the Weeknd has never sung about loveless intercourse in any of his songs before…no, he hasn’t (It’s in every song). Basically, what I am trying to get at is that this is the Weeknd song that I am currently obsessed with today. His almost flawless falsetto and vocals make this song sound like a peaceful seranade towards a woman that he is in love with…but realistic he’s just telling her how she’s gonna get it in a very beautiful way. That works too. This song is just soothing and I could listen to it, for probably 5-10 times on repeat. After that, I kind of move on… and I am no longer talking about the song itself. This song is just the perfect ode to bedroom love. There really is nothing left to say about this piece of music…I’m just repeating myself now…ok, done.
This is one of those signature songs that launched the artist into the ranks of stardom and that one song that annoys you so much but that you will almost always sing whenever you hear it just because almost everyone and every radio station knows it. High For This by The Weeknd is one of those classic R&B songs about the wondrous topic of sex and ones attractiveness (presumably female in his case). Although I love the original song, I also loved the cover by Ellie Goulding. You know, the girl who dated Skrillex? So, today, I have decided to post both versions of the song for you to decide which one that you like better. Listen, enjoy, and “trust me boy/girl, you wanna be…high for this”.
The Weeknd featuring Drake. Well, you know its going to be amazing, is there anything else that really needs to be said? I think not. Anyways, I love this song. The beat is amazing, the weeknd’s voice is stunning (as usual), and Drake is kind of the added touch that this song needed. If you’re not listening to the weeknd or if you are not in love with his almost flawless musical stylings then… I honestly don’t know what to say. The Zone, by the weeknd, feat. Drake. Hope you like it!
So I went to a festival in Toronto today, called Word on the Street at Queens Park. It was fun and I walked away with 6 cool new books. Maybe one of these books will inspire a song or two. Today, I present you with a The Weeknd song once again. “Coming Down” is a song I love to listen to at night. This song is also from House of Balloons. I hope you enjoy this!
