This song has been my obsession of the day. Last night, very late into the night, I began watching season 5 of Girls (the HBO show). At the end of the episode, this song played and I instantly had to figure out where I could find it. Fool for Love is a folk-pop song by Lord Huron. To be completely frank, I have never heard of this band before this, however, this is a fun and cute song. Hopefully I will be expanding my current playlist with songs from this band.
Over the years, my mom has always raved about the music of Annie Lennox. Personally, I cannot remember any of the songs by her that I would have heard, until the 50 Shades of Grey Soundtrack. The opening scene of the film serves as a montage/introduction to the character of Christian Grey. While we are getting a crash course into his daily regime, this wonderful song (I Put A Spell on You) plays in the background. I remember being in the theatre and hearing this song. I was amazed by her amazing vocal ability and jazz instrumental of this song. So I went home, opened up my iTunes and searched for this song on the 50 Shades Soundtrack.
This is one of my favourite songs lately. I cannot stop listening to it! There is so much emotion In this song and his song is perfect for describing the relationship that Ana and Christian do have in the movie. He does put a spell on her…its just kinda different. Now I am searching for more Annie Lennox music to curb my addiction to this one song. Jazz lovers will definitely enjoy this song.
Well we all know that song that made Beyoncé who she is today from some odd number of years ago. Crazy in Love. That was the song. Everyone I knew would bump and grove to this track. This song has become a timeless party track that many love and adore.
In the book 50 Shades of Grey, the original version of this song is mentioned in the movie and becomes associated with one of the most pivotal moments in the novel. For the film, however, Beyoncé recreated her song and made more of a slow and haunting version that seemed more fitting to the film.
While I love the original version, I must say that I think Beyoncé out did the original. While it is completely different in sound, it still brings a certain character to the song. It is almost like this is the grown up version of being Crazy in Love. One can interpret the original version as being a young person, crazy in lust with a man, yet having the time of her life and not taking anything to seriously. This version is dark and haunting. It provides a look into the deep and and darker feelings of being crazy in love which may not always be too good. It shows that love can be controlling and not as pleasant as the previous song perceives it to be. It gives context to being crazy in love on both ends of the spectrum.
All in all, I like this version much better than the original, but I think its just because I prefer music with this type of sound.
Merry Christmas to all of those who celebrate. Although I haven’t posted in over a month, I thought that Christmas Day would be a better time than any to write about a Christmas Song. This season, I have taken a liking to Jordin Sparks Christmastime to Me song. I originally heard this song on the Best Man Holiday Soundtrack and for it being the first track on the album, it is definitely an upbeat song that brings you right into the feeling of the holiday season. Not only is this song great for this film, but it is even more amazing on a day like today. So here it is, Enjoy!!!
Adele. Flawless. As usual. What else is there to really say?
I must admit, I did not like the song on intitally hearing it, but then the beauty of Adele’s voice sunk in and captivated my ear drums with the perfection that her voice has. Each word was coated and colored with the emotion and expression that we can only get from Adele. So here it is. Skyfall, named after the new 007 Bond film, and if the film is anything like the song…well lets just say its gonna be good.
