I needed a song about regret…and this was the only one that came to mind. In this song, Bruno Mars is singing about his regret in not making the right decisions while in a relationship was the love of his life. He waited till it was too late and realized what he had when it was gone. The regret was so great that he wrote a powerful and emotional song about it. Now, I have a regret and its strong enough to write a blog post about it. I regret not applying for a semester abroad exchange in university. Lets look at this trip abroad as the man I could have had but let go. I thought of all of the negatives: too expensive, away from family, I know no one, different school, out of my comfort zone, too much money… Now that I look back on my decision, I kind of regret it. I let the one opportunity I had to learn in a different country go for foolish reasons. I have only ever lived in Toronto, and in Quebec for a bit, so I haven’t really had the opportunity to go anywhere else, nor do I think that I will have this opportunity again. So, just like Bruno Mars, I did not see what I had in front of me at the time and I may never get it back. But I have to look at the possibility for other opportunities in the future and conquer them as they come. So instead of “When I Was Your Man”, it should be, “When I had the chance to fly but let the fear of heights stunt me”.
I just love this song. I am still mentally debating whether or not this song or Blurred Lines is going to be dubbed the song of the summer…I’m not sure yet. This song is kind of a jazzy blast to the past song. It is something different on the radio which also makes it kind of catchy. I love how it kind of draws away from the traditional “GURL YOU SO HOTT” types of songs today. Its more of a “Gurl you are gorgeous, let me write a song about it”. I just love this song and Bruno Mars. Enjoy!
P.S. The music video is cool too. Kind of like Daft Punk’s Robot Rock video or some old Jackson 5 thing.
Everybody needs a little Bruno Mars in their lives. This is Mars new song, Locked out of Heaven. Although I am not in love with it to the same extend I was attracted to Just The Way You Are and most of the other tracks on his album Doo-Wops and Hooligans I must say that this is a good follow up effort to an amazing and Grammy award winning previous album. Hopefully unorthodox jukebox (his new album) can captivate me in the same way. Basically, I’m just trying to say that this is a good song and I hope that you enjoy it.
“If you ever leave me baby, leave some morphine at my door. ‘Cause it would take a whole lot of medication, to realize what we used to have we don’t have it anymore”. This line right here just describes why this song is pure, creative genius. This line is so revealing of the characters love that it is truly heartbreaking. Bruno Mars creates the imagery of a broken heart so beautifully and uses the accurate wording to describe the complexity of the emotions of a person in a situation as such. He is basically saying that he would die without the love of his life with him. This is truly and emotional piece and one of my very favourite songs. It Will Rain by Bruno Mars is the song I have chosen today.
